MILFORD FOLK CLUB

Milford Folk Club meets at 7.30 on the second Thursday of each month at The Bridge,  9 Sea Road Milford on Sea SO41 0PH  -  formerly known as Milford on Sea Community Centre

Milford Folk Club

Established in 2007, the club originally operated out of the old Milford on Sea Community Centre, with a nod to the 1960s folk music scene. Though the atmosphere of smoky pub back rooms couldn’t be recreated, the club maintained a friendly, informal vibe, initially hosted in portacabins with beer to set the mood. In 2010, it moved to the newly upgraded Community Centre, now called The Bridge, where a stage, lighting, and sound systems have enhanced performances while preserving the club’s welcoming and relaxed feel.

The club is led by Bill Hesp, a walking encyclopedia of folk music, who organizes each evening with a mix of performances from local musicians, floor singers, and guest performers. A highlight of the club is its diverse musical offerings, with occasional blues nights hosted by Bob Long. Milford Folk Club regularly draws an audience of around 60 people, creating a lively and engaged atmosphere that guest performers frequently praise. Local musicians often participate by sharing songs, tunes, or even poems, making the club a vibrant hub for the local acoustic music scene.
